Pay close attention to fads and trends. Fads and trends come and go. If you go a years time without paying attention to what is trendy; you may hurt yourself and your business. Don’t get used to the same ‘ol, same ‘ol. It’s fine to get used to a certain trend, but it won’t be around forever. Familiar equals comfort zone. But don’t get comfortable with something that isn’t working as well anymore. Following trends and keeping with them is a great business advantage. You can actually steal customers away from your competition just by knowing what is hot right now.
Think outside the box. Lots of people get used to what is the norm. They seem to follow what everyone else is doing. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. Pay attention to detail and research everything you need. Chances are, your competition isn’t thinking outside the box. They are probably doing what everyone else is doing. Concentrate on going the other direction. Keep originality and simplicity your main concept. Don’t copy what other people are doing. It’s fine to check and see what your competition is doing.
