Yes my friend, there is a Santa Claus!
Just take a moment to get very comfortable in your seat and let your mind go back in time to you as a wee child. You are composing your annual letter to Santa (maybe with the help of an adult) and making a list, checking it twice, for all those things you are dreaming will make an appearance on Christmas morning. If you are not of the Christian faith just hang with me here and perhaps liken this example to something more appropriate to yours.
There is no doubt in your mind that Santa is the Jolly Old Elf hard at work in his workshop at the North Pole making all your desires come true. And miraculously, they do! A few years later, some spoil sport on the playground smashes your dream with the announcement that there is no Santa Claus and, in fact, he is really your parent(s).
As a parent of three, I always dreaded the day that my child would come to me and ask if this were true. Of course, I had to confirm this and would add the hopefully but usually not comforting words about Santa being the imaginary representative of the “spirit of giving”. Stick with me, I know it is March and not December, but there is a point here.
Today, I would have an entirely different approach to my response to my child. I would say this:
“Santa” is a picture in your mind of a miraculous energy (like the sun rising and setting every day, without fail) that is all around every one of us, just like you being wrapped in a comfy blanket that is invisible. This energy can look like Santa or you can use your imagination and have it look like whatever you want it to. Adults call it “Law of Attraction”, and it makes it possible for you and me and all the people on the earth to write their “Letter to Santa” every single day of the year, not just once a year.
You must continue to believe the very same way you have believed in the Jolly Old Elf at the North Pole because I promise you that energy (comfy blanket) is very, very real and you have it right in your hand.
Now, your “Letter to Santa” is going to look a bit different. It’s going to be a Vision Board. We are going to put a large board (white board, cork board, poster board) on the wall in your room and you can do whatever you want with it to show the Energy what it is that you want. You can draw, write, cut out pictures and words from magazines, find pictures on the Internet, etc. Just use your imagination and have fun.
There are a few rules to follow. In order for the Energy to bring your dreams to you, you must first be grateful for what you already have. Be thankful and grateful every day. You also must be very clear about what it is that you want. The Energy isn’t able to guess about the details so if you want a new bike you must tell the Energy exactly what kind of bike, its colour, the kind of tires, brakes, handlebars and everything else you can think of. You must also continue to believe in this Energy just as much as you believed in the Jolly Old Elf. Remember, Santa is just one picture we imagine that it looks like.
And lastly, you must use your imagination everyday by seeing yourself as having received what you want and letting yourself feel your happiness. The best way to do this is to sit in front of your Vision Board for a few minutes everyday and just imagine!”
Now, what do you think would have been different for you in your life if this had been how “there is no Santa” was explained to you?
Here’s the really good news. You can start now. The Universe (Energy) does not know time. Set up your Vision Board, a stack of magazines, the Internet, marker pens, whatever you need and dreammmm about what you want for your business and your family. It’s really fun! Follow the rules as stated above. And before you can turn around three times and make a wish, you will begin to GET WHAT YOU SEE.
